Our Core Beliefs
What We Believe
The focus of our faith is the Lord Jesus Christ. We rejoice in the common bond we share with “all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:2). As a church, we are united together by shared doctrinal convictions that are summarized in a number of creedal and confessional statements. Most simply, we are a Historic (orthodox), Reformed, and Baptist church. We joyfully stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the ages in affirming the Apostles’ Creed (2nd century) and the Nicene Creed (325 and 381), and also believe that the Second London Confession (1689), the New Hampshire Confession (1853), the Abstract of Principles (1858), and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) provide helpful expositions of God’s Word. We have adopted as our Confession of Faith a slightly revised and modernized version of the Abstract of Principles.
Our Confession of Faith is a summary of what we believe as a church. It is anchored in God’s Word and in continuity with historic Christianity. It encourages sound doctrine, protects us from error, and shows unity in Christ.
